All You Need is 1,000 Pesos to Start Investing in UITF

Update (9-Apr-2015): Upon further checking the details of the BDO Institutional Equity Fund (the one with a minimum investment of 1000 Pesos), it was found out that the said fund is only applicable to clients with tax-exemptions supported by BIR tax-exemption certificates. It is not offered to retail investors.

Do you know that you can start investing in equity UITF for as low as 1,000 Pesos? It is now possible through BDO's Institutional Equity Fund. With a minimum initial investment of 1,000 Pesos, you can now have an equity UITF account with them. The minimum additional investment amount (also referred to as top-up amount) is 1,000 Pesos only, too. It has definitely made UITF investing more affordable.

But how about the performance, is it at par with the best equity funds? The answer is YES. The fund finished as the sixth best Equity UITF of 2014, and with its 2014 ROI (return on investment) of 23.19%, it has outperformed the 2014 PSE Index, which finished with 22.76%.
If you can invest 10,000 Pesos or more, you'll have more equity UITF options to choose from. It includes Security Bank's Peso Equity Fund, the best Equity UITF of 2014 (ROI of 48.29%), as well as BPI's Philippine High Dividend Equity Fund, the number one Equity UITF as of February 13,2015.

I've prepared a fund matrix wherein you can easily check the Equity UITF options you have for the amount you're willing to invest. For each fund, I've also included the minimum additional investment amount, minimum holding period and the settlement date. Where the holding period is zero, it means that you can immediately sell your units on the next banking day. With regards to the Settlement Date, "T" represents the transaction date, the date when your units have been redeemed/sold (also referred to as the redemption date). If the Settlement Date is T+3, it means that you'll receive your money three banking days after the redemption date.
