GPS App for Financial Freedom Journey

The problem with knowing the ins and outs of an investment scheme such as UITF is that you sometimes become too complacent and lose discipline. I have to admit that when I started investing in 2006, I see to it that I set aside money to invest in UITFs and MFs regularly. As years passed, I got familiar with market timing, but I found myself always waiting for the perfect time to enter a fund. Problem is, I often fail to enter due to varying reasons, making my money just sleep in my savings account. Sometimes, I'm able to grab maturing pension plans that provide at least 13% guaranteed return per annum, but if you'll ask me if I'm able to use my money efficiently, my answer would be NO.

Three weeks ago, I joined 2 financial literacy-related FB groups. It proved to me that it's really a good thing to surround yourself with like-minded individuals. By reading the posts, I got a refresher of the things I learned 9 years ago (plus some more). I felt glad that I was also able to share my knowledge/experience and reach out to more Filipinos (especially the OFWs), which is exactly the reason why I established my blogger in January this year. I'm happy that I finally found the groups that share the same advocacy.

It was also a humbling experience since I realized that I still need to learn a lot of things. I was finally inspired again. Because of the people I've met online, I got inspired to learn and study once more. In fact, when I visited my parents' house last week, I took with me several books I bought several years ago but never had the chance to read or finish. I finally regained my bearings and even planned the amounts that I'll be investing in the succeeding month.

FFFF (Filipino Financial Freedom Forum) and TGFI (The Global Filipino Investors) were like Waze (GPS navigation application) that lead me back to the right direction. Unlike the built-in navigation app in my car wherein I travel alone using the pre-installed map (consider this as my financial freedom journey), with these 2 forums, I travel together with other Filipinos towards our destination called financial freedom. ,
