As of March 20, 2015, BPI's Equity Value Fund is the best performing equity UITF in the Philippines, gaining 9.22% since the start of the year. This is the second time this year that it ended the week in the top spot (the first time was last January 30, 2015). Actually, except for the week of February 27 where it finished at the 4th spot, the Equity Value Fund consistently finished within the top 3 spots every week, so I wasn't surprised with its rise to the top this time.
In terms of outperforming the PSEi this week (8.13% YTD), it's good to know that 7 funds succeeded. Next to BPI's Equity Value Fund's 9.22% YTD is UnionBank's Dividend Play Equity Portfolio with 8.96% YTD. It is then followed by 3 equity UITFs from BPI, namely, Philippine High Dividend Equity Fund (8.89% YTD), Odyssey Tax-Exempt Philippine Equity Fund (8.55% YTD) and Odyssey Philippine Equity Fund (8.44% YTD). PNB's AUP Equity Fund ended the week having 8.29% YTD. To cap the list, BPI's Philippine Equity Index Fund finished the week with 8.25% YTD. Impressive performance from BPI, 5 out of their 6 funds beat the index!
Out of the Top 10 UITFs, 5 came from BPI, 2 came from Unionbank, and 2 from Metrobank.
The complete list is shown below.
MYPG Disclosure:
I subscribed to BPI's Equity Value Fund last Friday, March 20. I didn't know that it will end the week as the top equity UITF, I just wanted to give it a try. Although I plan to keep this invested for the next 3 years, I'm hoping to see paper gains soon. :P
